She served as Director of Workforce Services and WIB Director for eight years. In that position she was responsible for day-to-day operations, administration, financial oversight, and volunteer management. She also worked for the State of Ohio on workforce issues.

She has worked on issues of youth disability and workforce outcomes, youth employment, skill standards and school-to-work transitions.
Currently, Kaufmann serves on the Board of Center for Workforce Inclusion (CWI) (formerly Senior Service America), the only national entity dedicated exclusively to the workforce development needs of underserved workers 50+.
Barbara Kaufmann is an accomplished, creative leader in all aspects of workforce development programs and social services at the local, state, and national level, including sustained system change, proposals and grants, contract management, fiscal control, program accountability, and communications.
